St. Ann Kids Volunteer 101
St. Ann Kids is our Children’s Ministry program for 1st-4th graders. We focus on developing each child’s relationship with Scripture, introducing them to Church Traditions, building Christ-centered friendships, and of course… having fun! Sessions run (mostly) weekly from September to May.
What’s my role?
The foundational role of a St. Ann Kids volunteer is to ensure each child knows they are safe and loved here at St. Ann. You will guide these children into a relationship with Jesus and communion with the Catholic Church.
Responsibilities
Co-lead a small group of 10-20 kids.
Read small group material & prepare beforehand.
Facilitate 20-40 minute small group sessions.
Arrive at least 15 minutes early to prepare and welcome kids.
Stay with your group until each child is picked up.
Pray for your group & their families throughout the week!
Office helpers will assist the program in what is needed during the group sessions.
Expectations
Miss no more than 3 sessions per semester. It’s crucial for the kids (& their parents) to have a consistent presence!
Communicate absences to Children’s Ministry staff as far in advance as possible; we have a roster of subs we can schedule to fill in.
Stick to the weekly Leader Guide provided by Children’s Ministry staff. It is important that each kid is experiencing the same material.
Commit yourself to daily prayer and growing closer to the Lord. You can’t pour from an empty cup!
Sit on the floor with kids in the assembly room and in your classroom. (We are understanding of physical limitations to this.)
Participate in all opening and closing activities - no matter how silly you may feel!
Follow all Safe Environment procedures. Report any violations or concerns promptly to Children’s Ministry staff.
Live in accordance with church teaching. Be a good example on and off campus.
