GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The St. Ann Coordinator of High School Ministry is a tenacious person who wants to use his or her background to impact our community and share the joy of the gospel. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth ministry and wants youth to come to know the person of Jesus and the richness of the Catholic faith. This person will be a self-starter, reliable, and driven. This role will require a firm understanding of our church’s mission and vision.

Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in a field such as theology or catechesis.

  • Dynamic, passionate Catholic living out their faith

  • Must know all levels of social media.

  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.

  • Excellent people relations skills for representing the parish and the youth ministry program.

  • Ability to support teams and processes to carry out program objectives.

  • Effective speaking and teaching ability.

  • Excellent work ethic with high regard to completing tasks.

Job Description

  • Carry out the vision and mission for effective Catholic youth ministry by helping plan and execute programming, working with fellow staff to create original youth nights, retreats, Bible Studies, discipleship group opportunities, and all other programs. Give talks, and programming for HSM Nights, retreats, mission trip and anything else as directed by supervisor.

  • Build and Maintain Quality Relationships with Parents by clearly sharing the vision of ministry with parents so they understand the purpose and direction of youth ministry. Also create avenues of consistent contact with parents through regular communication.

  • Supervise adult volunteers and core members to be effective in mentoring youth. Actively recruit and train new volunteers and make sure all are cleared through the Safe Environment Program.

  • Host consistent strategic planning meetings with key core leaders and staff. Host regular core summits/dinners to support ongoing core formation, appreciation, and team building.

  • Supervise and meet weekly with Missionaries currently assigned to HSM.

  • Supervise staff/core that is outreaching to youth. Hanging out with youth at school events, sporting events, school lunches and in the community. Help communicate St Ann vision to youth and parents that we encounter. Attend St. Ann yearly events, such as the Carnival and parish missions. Sit with youth at the 4:30pm youth Mass. Attend Mission Laredo each year. Organize service projects for youth and families.

  • Office Expectations: Follow all church policies, communicate with staff, complete yearly and quarterly evaluations. Maintain office hours as agreed upon with Director. Attend regular parish staff meetings and collaborate with fellow staff members.

  • Full participation in St. Ann culture and parish. Worshipping at St. Ann, participating in communal life here, serving, and giving here.

  • Other related tasks requested by the Associate Director of Youth Ministry, Director, or Pastor of St Ann Church.
