THE THINGS ABOVE // The Glory

We might believe that Heaven is real, but do we live like it? This past Sunday, we concluded our series on THE THINGS ABOVE. The Church describes Heaven as “the ultimate end and fulfillment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme, definitive happiness.” (CCC 1024). Jesus tells us that we seek Heaven, Heaven seeks us, and that Heaven is a choice that we get to make through the actions of our lives (Matthew 13:44-50).

If Heaven is real, priceless, open to us, and not of this world, then our minds, hearts, and lives must be oriented towards the beyond. We run with reckless abandon and unshakeable confidence towards a Kingdom that is not of this world, exercising daily deaths to this world, knowing that from every death comes spiritual life.

Don't let the things we say at Church stay at Church!! Use these questions to comfortably bring Jesus into your everyday conversations with friends, family, and even those you might not know very well (yet!).

• What do you think will happen after you die?

• Is Heaven something worth dying for?

• Is there anything we want more than eternal life? Can Heaven fulfill all of our desires?

• Jesus says that the Kingdom of Heaven dwells among us. What do you think that means?

Jesus' greatest gift of love to us is the Eucharist. In fact, it is more than just a gift. It is also the Gift-Giver: Jesus gives us Himself every single time we receive the Eucharist.
