With us learning about a new saint each week, and All Saints Day coming up we thought it would be the perfect time to learn more about the Saints. Who are they? Why do we honor them? Why do we ask for their intercession? Watch this video to find out!
After you’ve watched the video, discuss these questions with your child:
Are you named after a saint? If so, why did your parents pick that name?
Each Saint is known as the “patron” of something. This means, they are protecting and praying in a special way for a certain group of people. Usually, a saint becomes the patron of something they were involved in or really loved in their life. For example, St. Joseph is the patron saint of carpenters. He worked as a carpenter, and we believe he is especially protecting all carpenters. What would you want to be the patron saint of?
What do you think it takes to be a saint? (Make sure you drive home to your child that being a saint does NOT mean being perfect, but always turning back to the Lord when we fall and closely following him.)
The Saint’s Feast Days give us a reason to celebrate every day! Here are some ideas of how to celebrate the feast of a saint who is very important to you.

Blessed Carlo Acutis is on his way to becoming a canonized saint, and you might have more in common with him than you think…
He wasn’t alive 400 years ago, and he wasn’t a priest or hermit- he lived an ordinary life like you and me! Click the button below to read about Bl. Carlo.
Pick a saint to learn about and make a skyMessage (It doesn’t have to be fancy and narrated, just pick 10-15 emojis that tell their story, type them out and take a screenshot)
If you email it to Miss Meredith, she’ll have a prize for you next week at St. Ann Kids!
