Mission Laredo 2022 Registration Information

St. Ann High School Ministry is excited to return to the Diocese of Laredo for the eighth time this summer from July 10-16, 2022.  This event is open to current 9th-12th grade year.

Our mission is simple… to build up the Church!    We hope to build up the church in Laredo, both physically and spiritually!  Physical projects involve working in Colonia areas to improve the quality of life, Vacation Bible School for parishes in Laredo, and much more. Probably even more important than our construction projects, though, is to build up the church spiritually as our young people share their love for Christ with the people of the community.  Ultimately it is our youth who receive so much as they encounter the joy and faith of the people of Laredo.  "It is in giving that we receive!" -Prayer of St. Francis

Below is all of the registration information for the coming year!

COVID-PRECAUTIONS:

We are monitoring situations constantly. Last year a negative PCR test was required to attend the trip. When the trip gets closer we will let participants know any specific requirements.

Important Dates

Registration Begins:

  • Feb 7th at 8 pm for those who just completed their 10th-12th grade year

  • If any spots remain the following day, youth who just completed their 9th-grade year can register on Feb 8th at 8pm (Even if the trip is sold out you can start being placed on the waitlist at this time)

Cost The cost of the trip is $600 per person. This money covers all of the expenses associated with our travel and stay in Laredo:

  • Buses – approx. $300 per person

  • Room and Board – $250 per person

  • The remaining $50 goes toward material for the worksites. We usually spend almost $20,000 on materials and supplies

Depart to Laredo:  Sunday, July 10th immediately following the 8 am Mass. We will return to St. Ann:  Saturday, July 16th in the late evening

Housing: We are excited to stay at St. Patrick's parish on Del Mar Blvd. in north Laredo once again.  It is a fabulous parish that can be best described as a smaller version of St. Ann.  It is the largest and most dynamic parish in the diocese!  They have wonderful facilities including a parish hall for large gatherings, classrooms for sleeping, showers, Perpetual Adoration Chapel, and more!  This provides a safe and welcoming home for our missionaries during our time in Laredo.

Transportation: We will use Dan Diepert Coaches.  They have been an industry leader in offering safe and professional transportation for almost 40 years.

Final Payment:  Due by July 1st

We know the time frame for this year’s trip is different than any other before. If you need to talk about an extended payment option please contact us. Because this trip is so full we do not offer financial aid in most situations. We need to see your teen fundraising by writing letters, doing online fundraising, etc. If they are still short after their personal fundraising, then come talk with our office.   Click here for a template letter to help formulate a letter to send to family and friends. This has been very effective in past years for those that have sought to raise money to cover the cost of their personal expenses for the trip.

*Donations made to cover the teen’s payment are NOT tax-deductible.

Work

The majority of our mission work will focus on serving poor communities around Laredo called Colonias.  We will work alongside the leaders of those communities to identify construction needs at the parish and surrounding community.  We will be traveling to Laredo in the coming weeks to finalize the specific construction projects for this year’s trip.  In addition to our construction projects, we will engage the local community by leading activities for younger children and inviting the local youth to join us in building up their communities.
