CONFIRMATION REQUIREMENTS 2022-2023
CONFIRMATION LOGISTICS
Arrival On Confirmation Day-We ask for teens and sponsors to arrive at 8:00am on the day of confirmation. Please have everyone enter through the courtyard. We will rehearse before the confirmation mass begins.
Dress Code for Confirmation- We ask all youth and sponsors to wear church appropriate clothes. Clothes do not have to be a certain color. No very high heels, or glitter makeup. We also ask that all shoulders and backs are covered and dresses/skirts are knee-length. We ask that males wear a shirt, tie, and slacks. Suits are not mandatory but fine to wear if you desire.
Photos-During the Ceremony we will not allow any flash photography and or getting out of seats to take photos to uphold the sacredness of the liturgy. There will be a professional photographer taking photos of the confirmation and these will be available for you all to download at no cost.

RIGHT OF CONFIRMATION: TEEN RESPONSE
After the Homily, there will be the “Renewal of Baptismal Promises” where the candidates will respond to a set of questions the Bishop will ask them, please see below.
Bishop: Do you reject Satan and all his works and all his empty promises? Candidates: I do. Bishop: Do you believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth? Candidate: I do. Bishop: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? Candidate: I do. Bishop: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who came upon the apostles at Pentecost and today is given to you sacramentally in Confirmation? Candidate: I do. Bishop: Do you believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?Candidate: I do. Bishop: This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church. We are proud to profess it in Christ Jesus our Lord. All: Amen.
Following the Renewal of Baptismal Promises is “The Laying of the Hands”
The Bishop will say a prayer at this time over the candidates, once it is finished all will respond with Amen.
After the Laying of the Hands is “The Anointing with Chrism” (Confirmation)
The confirmation candidates will approach the Bishop with the sponsor behind them. Each will have a saint card that Andrea will provide at check in and the sponsor will show this card to the Bishop. At that moment the Bishop will anoint the candidate with the chrism oil on the forhead and say the following:
Bishop: [Saint Name], be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Candidate: Amen. Bishop: Peace be with you. Candidate: And with your spirit.
Then we will continue with the rest of the Mass.
