Mission Laredo 2019 Registration Information

St. Ann High School Ministry is excited to return to the Diocese of Laredo for the seventh consecutive year this summer from July 12-19, 2019.  This event is open to current 9-12th grade youth.

Our mission is simple… to build up the Church!    We hope to build up the church in Laredo, both physically and spiritually!  Physical projects involve working in colonia areas to improve the quality of life, Vacation Bible School for parishes in Laredo, and much more. Probably even more important than our construction projects, though, is to build up the church spiritually as our young people share their love for Christ with the people of the community.  Ultimately it is our youth who receive so much as they encounter the joy and faith of the people of Laredo.  "It is in giving that we receive!" -Prayer of St. Francis

Below is all of the registration information for the coming year!

Important Dates

  • Optional Parent/Teen information meeting after youth night on Jan 27th 7:30pm in the assembly room.

Registration Begins:

  • Jan 28th at 8pm for current 10-12 grade youth

  • Jan 29th at 8pm for current 9th grade youth (Even if the trip is sold out you can start being placed on the wait list at this time)

Cost The cost of the trip is $550 per person. This money covers all of the expenses associated with our travel and stay in Laredo:

  • Buses – approx. $250 per person

  • Room and Board – $250 per person

  • Remaining money goes toward material for the worksites. We usually spend almost $20,000 in material supplies

Depart to Laredo:  Friday, July 12th at approximately 8 a.m. Return to St. Ann:  Friday, July 19th in the late evening

Housing: We are excited to stay at St. Patrick's parish on Del Mar Blvd. in north Laredo once again.  It is a fabulous parish that can be best described as a smaller version of St. Ann.  It is the largest and most dynamic parish in the diocese!  They have wonderful facilities including a parish hall for large gatherings, classrooms for sleeping, showers, Perpetual Adoration Chapel, and more!  This provides a safe and welcoming home for our missionaries during our time in Laredo.

Transportation: We will use Dan Diepert Coaches.  They have been an industry leader for offering safe and professional transportation for almost 40 years.

Final Payment:  Due by June 1st

Because this trip is so full we do not offer financial aid in most situations. We need to see your teen fundraising by writing letters, doing online fundraising, etc. If they are still short after their personal fundraising, then come talk with our office.   Click here for a template letter  to help formulate a letter to send to family and friends. This has been very effective in past years for those that have sought to raise money to cover the cost of their personal expenses for the trip.

*Donations made to cover the teens payment are NOT tax deductible.

Group Fundraising

Our fundraising goal is $20,000 which will help us purchase the supplies that we will need to keep all of our missionaries busy for 5 full days of work. Our primary fundraiser is the Fish Fry. We encourage all to attend the fish fry dinners starting February 16th to help raise the necessary funds.

The majority of our mission work will focus serving poor communities around Laredo called Colonias.  We will work alongside the leaders of those communities to identify construction needs at the parish and surrounding community.  We will be traveling to Laredo in the coming weeks to finalize the specific construction projects for this year’s trip.  In addition to our construction projects we will engage the local community by leading activities for younger children and inviting the local youth to join us in building up their communities.
